July Scripture Writing Plan: God is My Refuge

Happy almost July friends!

The scripture writing plan this month is over the wonderful fact that GOD is our Refuge!
Do you ever feel...

Overwhelmed? Heartbroken? Scared? Weary?
I sure do.

In the midst of hard times, sometimes it feels like God is silent, but He is not.
His Word is Him speaking to us in written form and it is ALWAYS available, and never silent.
His truth in His word can bring such comfort to us.
And He calls us to take refuge in Him and His word- to hide ourselves in God.
He says so over and over and over again in scripture.
That's because He is the ONLY thing that remains unshaken in this world.
Our spouse, our friends, our job, our church-
NONE of those things will give us the refuge that He can and will.

We can trust the One who can see what is and what is to come, sweet friend.
Let's spend this month reminding ourselves that He alone is our Refuge.

FYI: I made the plan 31 days and plan to do that with
all topical plans in the future so that they can be done any month-
not just the month I write them for.

TO PRINT: You can find a copy of the plan in English and Spanish in the folder HERE.

Memory Verse: Week 26

I believe that Satan doesn’t want us in God’s word and will use any and every means possible to keep us from the truth and therefore we must be prepared and have a PLAN!

To work on hiding God's word in our hearts,
this year I'm going to be posting a memory verse for each week
along with a printable to print out and hang up.

Here's the verse for week 26:

He is Faithful

I don’t know your story, but I do know that God is faithful. ALWAYS.

You sweet friend, are NOT the exception to His promises. His word is full of His promises to us and He always, always, always keeps them. He is working in your waiting, exactly where you are. He always keeps His promises.
Joshua 21:45 says…Not one of all the LORD’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

You dear friend, are NOT the exception to God’s faithfulness. When your life feels like it is a giant mess and is completely falling apart, when darkness seems to surround you, He is right there with you holding you in His mighty hands.
Isaiah 41:10 says…So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

You precious one, are NOT the exception to His deliverance. He delivered the Israelites out of Egypt, He provided manna for 40 years, He saved Jonah in the belly of a whale, and He saved Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego from the fiery furnace. He will NOT leave you. Ever.
Hebrews 13:5 says….Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.

When you begin feeling like you are the exception to God’s goodness, an exception to His promises and deliverance, look back at His faithfulness throughout all of Scripture. Remember what He has done in your life and the lives of those around you. Look for His fingerprints all over your life because they are there. Remember His gracious deliverance over and over again. Speak the promises in His word out loud and ask God to remind you of His true character. He loves you, knows you, keeps you. He IS faithful.

Love Does

Love isn't easy y'all. Hallmark movies sure make it seem like it is but that's a load of malarkey. Love is a daily (hourly sometimes) CHOICE because sometimes we don't feel it. At all. But- even when we don't feel it, we show up for those we love. When they are being awesome and when they are being awful. When they say & do kind things and when they irritate the ever loving tar out of us. When they are being sweet and when they are being flat out ridiculous and dumb and annoying. When they say kind things and when they say things that truly wound & hurt us. When they ask us to be there and when they push us away. It's simply what love does.

Romans 12:9-10 in the Message says "Love from the center of who you are; don't fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Be good friends who love deeply, practice playing second fiddle."

So today that's my prayer today. That we would all choose to love. Forgive. Make the call. Reach out. Show up. That we would look for those around us who need to see and feel love and that we wouldn't wait but act on it immediately as if it were the most important task on our to-do list today. Because it is!

Worry: Matthew 6:34

Worry is something I have ALWAYS struggled with (pretty sure I inherited that trait from my sweet mama) and as I start to worry about all the million things that could or might happen (usually in the middle of the night), I try to stop myself and repeat this quote and then Matthew 6:34 which says.....
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (NIV)

I absolutely love this verse in the Message which says...
Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes. (The Message)

The word worry actually comes from an old German word that means "to choke" or "to strangle." And that is exactly what worry does- it chokes you spiritually. It creates an emotional and mental stranglehold on your life. It doesn't EVER make anything better. In fact, it makes things worse. I love that in this verse He points out that worry—any manner of pace-the-floor, can’t-sleep-at-night fretting—is not helpful because it changes NOTHING. This verse is a beautiful reminder that worry isn’t necessary for a child of God. Our Father knows precisely what we need, when we need it. He is never early, never right, always right on time. The same God who paints the flowers of the field and tends the birds of the air holds every part of our lives in his nail-pierced hands. The same God who loved us so much that He went through the hell of Calvary for us, loves us too much to leave your life to chance.

My prayer today is that we are able to rest in the promise and that as we start to worry we are reminded there is no need- HE is in control and loves us so!
